For the first time, customers can take full advantage of unique Discussions-based review and analytics capabilities for global datasets

Redwood City, CA. March 16, 2007. Cataphora, an industry-leading provider of evidence analytics and review software, today disclosed that, effective immediately, it is offering its customers fully integrated capabilities to process and analyze data sets that include languages from all parts of the world. In addition to European and Arabic languages, Asian languages such as Japanese, Korean and Chinese are fully supported, allowing attorneys and investigators for the first time to apply the full power of Cataphora's advanced review platform and analytics capabilities to data sets that include documents in any language.

With increased globalization comes an increase in lawsuits and investigations involving multinational organizations and those with overseas partners, customers and vendors. The evidentiary data sets in such matters may contain a variety of languages from around the globe. In addition, the regulatory compliance needs of many corporations span multiple languages. Asian languages, in particular, present substantial challenges for sophisticated computer processing. Languages such as Japanese and Korean can use large sets of thousands of character combinations in their written forms, by contrast with the approximately thirty or so letters of most Western and Arabic alphabets. Moreover, numerous standards exist for representing these languages in computer systems. In the latest of a series of continuing improvements to its offerings, Cataphora is now able to handle document content and metadata, along with content and header information for email messages, for all of these languages and their various computer representations.

"We are pleased to be able to provide our unique advantages for review and analysis of data for all languages that our customers may encounter," commented Cataphora CEO Elizabeth Charnock. "While we have in the past had some capability to support these languages, we have been working diligently to ensure that we can reliably and fully process a complete range of language data for our customers." The sophisticated nature of Cataphora's processing meant that the extension to these additional languages was a complex exercise that had to be carefully executed and tested to assure the quality of results that customers require and expect, she added.

An additional challenge with many Asian languages is the variety of dialects that are used. Cataphora's own staff provides expertise in around thirty languages and dialects, with fluent European, Arabic and Asian language speakers. Jonathan Nystrom, Cataphora's VP of Sales, says that law firms are finding it increasingly difficult to find contract reviewers with the range of foreign language skills required to review international datasets. "This is where deployment of automated techniques such as Cataphora's can play a significant role in helping determine which documents are relevant and merit closer examination, regardless of what language they may be in," he explained. "This can significantly decrease the number of foreign-language speakers that need to be found to tackle any given project."

Extended language support is one of many enhancements from which Cataphora's customers can benefit immediately, including an expanded library of sophisticated analytics. Please contact your regional sales office for more information.

About Cataphora

Cataphora Inc. is the creator of C-Evidence, the solution of choice for investigative analytics and electronic evidence review. C-Evidence Investigative Analytics provide attorneys and investigators with unprecedented insight into electronic data, revealing fact and behavior patterns and providing answers to critical questions that were previously unanswerable. C-Evidence Electronic Evidence Review presents clients with the most important evidentiary data early in the review cycle and more effectively filters out junk and the other non-responsive data. Cataphora's C-Evidence Platform is being widely used by corporate legal departments, private law firms, and investigators with document-intensive matters in such areas as white-collar crime, securities, antitrust and intellectual property.
