Company Announces Further Addition to Patent Portfolio
Cataphora Inc., an industry-leading provider of organization modeling software and services, today announced a further addition to its growing patent portfolio. The patent covers advanced analytics, along with specific key inventions that are incorporated in Cataphora’s advanced C Evidence™ electronic evidence review platform.
The patent (number 7,519,589) encompasses a large number of advanced techniques for analyzing emotive tone in electronic communications. Cataphora has been deploying these and other analytics covered by this patent for several years to provide unprecedented insight into behavior patterns of individuals and organizations. These behavior patterns – and departures from them – can pinpoint important areas of interest for investigators, compliance professionals and attorneys. Additionally, the patent covers Cataphora’s Query Fitting Tool, a key technology that allows the company’s Technology Enhanced Review to automatically generate, with unprecedented efficiency, search queries that match a target set of documents. The patent also addresses several important practical innovations and user interface enhancements that are already incorporated in Cataphora’s flagship C-Evidence electronic evidence review platform.
“The analytics and other important innovations described in this patent build on and complement Cataphora’s previously patented core technology,” said Cataphora’s CEO, Elizabeth Charnock. “They are central to our advanced capabilities for litigation, investigation and compliance, and have been developed and proven over several years of real-world application to major projects during which they have provided tremendous practical value to our clients.”
Cataphora’s unique technology constructs complex models of organizational behavior, allowing any deviations from normal behavior to be more easily identified. It is the first information retrieval technology to recognize context that spans different records and even different record types. It does so by identifying causal relationships among these various records and creating a representation that supports superior analysis of the approximately 80 percent of corporate data that is unstructured.
Cataphora is seeing increasing demand for its analytics products, including those covered by its newest patent, in a widening variety of markets including corporate governance, risk management and compliance and legal applications. Based on data and analysis culled from its work on hundreds of high-profile legal cases, the company recently issued a report on risks associated with the self-identifying internal networks of employees that exist within every large organization.
