Cataphora Technology: Tackling the Hard Problems

What motivates your employees? What concerns them? How does this differ from person to person, or group to group? How does this change with time? How do your people interact with each other, with your processes, and with your data? These are hard questions for software to answer, but they can be vital to your organization’s security and success. Cataphora’s sophisticated and patented technology, which has been used extensively in litigation and large-scale investigations for nearly a decade, can help.

Cataphora Inc. was founded in 2002 and was built around one simple, yet defining idea: in order to truly understand any item of information – such as a document, email, or instant message, for example – you have to understand its surrounding context. The patented technology that we developed based on this concept was the first to determine the context of any item of electronic information on the basis of its causal relationships with other items – that is, relationships that reflect how one item of information led to or caused the creation of another. This, in turn, allows the end user to view, analyze and draw powerful conclusions about the behaviors of individuals and organizations that are memorialized in the electronic record, consisting of both structured and unstructured data.

Cataphora anticipated that the role of context, which was starting to be important when the company was founded, would grow to be absolutely critical in the evolving digital world. We were right.

So many of the challenges facing today’s organizations require understanding how people behave and more specifically, how they behave within the larger context. Our technology is built around these fundamental ideas – placing human behavior in the appropriate context – and as a result, it is capable of tackling the hard problems associated with living in a Big Data world.
